Information on stud services |
Screening
We feel that our stud dogs have a lot to offer in the areas of breed type, nobility, structure, temperament, genetic health and longevity. Our stud dogs are available for services to approved bitches only. We reserve the right to refuse services for any reason.
If interested in using one of our stud dogs, please send us a pedigree and several photos of your bitch, as well as any information of her previous breeding, if available. We would also like to know what qualities in your bitch you would like to keep/preserve and what you hope to improve by using one of our stud dog.
We will evaluate the information we receive from you and let you know if we feel our stud is a good match for your bitch. We will also advice/inform you if we feel the mating the two are incompatible. |
Mating arrangements
Please inform us as soon as your bitch starts her season to verify the stud's availability.
It is the responsibility of the owner of the bitch to ensure that there female is ready for mating at the time she is brought to our stud dog. You might want to have the bitch's progesterone levels tested to ensure she is bred during her optimal fertility period, or ask your veterinarian to perform a cytological examination. In either case please it is not enough to have your bitch tested once to pinpoint her best mating days, either of the two techniques must be used throughout the heat cycle to observe its progress. (Most females breed between the 9-15 days)
The bitch should arrive in good physical condition. We will not service bitches that appear to be in less than perfect health.
According to your preferences, we can provide one or two stud services, minimum 48 hours apart. Extra services /dates are given at our discretion only and depend on the stud's current schedule. |
Repeat service
We provide a free return stud service to the same bitch during her next season if no pregnancy results from the breeding. |
Breeding contract
We require our stud contract be signed before allowing the breeding to our stud dog. Should you require translation of the contract into any other language, it is your responsibility to have it done in advance of the service. |
Payment
The mating should be paid for in advance. We do not accept payment arrangements or delayed payments. We believe that if a breeder cannot afford a stud fee, he will not be able to provide proper care for the litter.
We ~might~ take a puppy in lieu of a stud fee, this could be an option if the bitch and her pedigree are of special interest to us. |
Litter care and placement
The owner of the bitch must assume full responsibility of taking proper care of there bitch and the litter. My help is available, if wanted or needed, to help place puppies with new families. In all cases the priority should be given to finding a good permanent home for every puppy, and a contract must be signed, stating that if anything should happen and they cannot keep this dog/or/puppy for any reason it comes back to the breeder (s). The bitch's owner is responsible for testing the puppies and placing them according to their potential, (i'm always available for help with this as well). No puppies sired by one of Big Mac Boxers stud dogs can be sold or given to anyone that operates a puppy mill or mass production of the breed. |
